Scheme: Retrofit Your Business
Introduction: The Retrofit scheme, funded through Malta’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, aims to support private sector entities, including enterprises and compliant voluntary organizations, in renovating commercial buildings to enhance energy efficiency. Eligible projects must achieve at least a 30% reduction in Primary Energy Demand (PED) by implementing measures that decrease energy consumption for heating, cooling, ventilation, hot water, and lighting.

Scheme: MicroInvest
Introduction: The scheme encourages undertakings (including Start-ups, family businesses and self-employed) to invest in their business, so as to innovate, expand and develop their operations. Undertakings benefitting from this measure will be supported through a tax credit calculated as a percentage of eligible expenditure, which also covers increased in wage costs.
Intended Beneficiaries:
Applications shall be accepted from undertakings which at point of application satisfy all of the following criteria:
a. During the year in which the costs were incurred, the undertaking did not employ more than 50 full time employees in its trade or business
b. The turnover or annual balance sheet total of the undertaking did not exceed €10 Million in the fiscal year preceding the year in which the application is submitted.
c. At the date of application, the undertaking must employ at least 1 person (on full or part time basis)
d. Unless exempted, the undertaking should be duly registered with the VAT department.
Undertakings engaged in activities specifically excluded under the de minimis Regulation (vide Section 6) are not eligible for this incentive.
Undertakings who have applied for investment aid measures (such as the Investment Aid Tax Credits 2014 – 2020 and Invest) may not apply for this incentive and for any investment carried out within the same year.

Introduction: The 2025 Call for Proposals invites applications for financial support for R&I projects in energy and water. The projects supported by this scheme are those with a duration ranging between twenty-four and thirtysix (30-36) months.
Intended Beneficiaries:
Maltese-registered enterprises, public or private research bodies and consortia proposing R&I projects in the fields of energy and water; project duration up to 36 months; co‑financing rate up to 100 % of eligible costs, subject to state‑aid rules.

Scheme: Investments on Board Fishing Vessels
Introduction:
- It aims to support fishermen and vessel owners through investments that:
- Improve safety, hygiene, health, and working conditions on board fishing vessels.
- Promote energy efficiency and reduce CO₂ emissions, for example by investing in more efficient engines or equipment.
- Enhance the quality of fishery products by improving storage, handling, and preservation on board.
- Support modernisation of vessels to make operations more sustainable.
Intended Beneficiaries:
- Fishers holding an MFA or MFB license;
- Fishers who have not committed any serious infringements within the previous two years from the time of application;
- Fishers who have a total minimum of 60 days of fishing activity within the previous two years from the time of application;
- Fishers with fishing vessels not exceeding 24 metres in size.

Scheme: National Pig Welfare Scheme 2024 – 2025
Introduction: Aim of this scheme is to grant aid to undertakings active in the primary agricultural production1 sector that voluntarily undertake certain specific actions to improve animal welfare on their farm.
Intended Beneficiaries: Active pig farmers registered in Malta with ≥2 sows; must provide at least 2.73 m² unobstructed area per sow (≥10 % beyond EU minimum). Five‑year commitment; annual claim required; scheme subject to State‑aid approval.

Scheme: Restoring and Upgrading Venues for Events in Gozo
Introduction:
Scheme assists Voluntary Sector Organizations or Private Business entities in restoring and upgrading their venue facilities to bolster their capacity for hosting high-quality MICE activities. Under this scheme, aid is provided in the form of a financial reimbursement covering 50% of eligible expenses incurred, with a ceiling set at EUR 50,000.
